Hobby Development - December 2021

Bricoler

The French language contains a word: "bricoler" (BREE-coh-lay). It isn't entirely translatable but it essentially means to tinker or putter about doing odd tasks and chores that are useful or beneficial but not essential or urgent. It's a beautiful word that encompasses this hobby, one of practicality and use but rarely urgency or import. Learn to repair a leaky faucet, how to use WD-40 and duct-tape to fix any emergency, or gain just enough of an understanding of zoology to recognize a bat infestation in your attic. It's fun when it's low-stakes and much of what you learn will one day be helpful.
