Library Databases

The EBSCOhost databases will provide access to published academic journal, magazine, and newspaper articles.  Remember, you will need to login if you are using the databases remotely.  The login and password information are in the Google document to the right of the page once opened.

Keywords

Remember to choose keywords carefully and to experiment with both broadened and narrowed synonyms.  The search function is literal.

Hints:

  • Use the advance search so that you don't have to be as careful building a nested search.
  • Use "" around phrases, particularly, the name of certain works.
  • Use * to stand in for multiple endings of a word.  For example, exhibit* will find exhibit, exhibits, exhibitor, exhibitors, exhibition, exhibitions, etc.
  • Keep it simple!  Putting too many keywords can limit your search, as in a search for:  Alfred Stieglitz and photographs and ships and "museum exhibits" may miss the source you seek!

Remember, research is a process!  You may need to try a number of searches in order to find the information you seek.
